How long is your tour?
Our tours last approximately 2.5 hours from start to finish. This includes your guided travel out to the ziplines, the zipline canopy tour, and your return to our office in Santa Margarita.
How man ziplines are included?
We offer four ziplines—the longest is 1,300 feet, the second and fourth are 800 feet, and the third is just under 500 feet.
Do I need prior experience with ziplines?
No prior experience is required! In fact, most of our guests are “zipline rookies.” We place a strict emphasis on safety, and will give you all of the instruction you need to feel comfortable before embarking. You will find that any apprehensions will quickly be replaced by a strong sense of accomplishment. However, if you are unable to complete the course for any reason, you may take the parallel footpath out from any zipline—El Rastro de la Galina (Trail of The Chickens). We do not offer refunds if you choose not to continue.
How does the tour work—and what does it include?
Departing from the Margarita Adventures office, you will enjoy guided transportation to Santa Margarita Ranch. Your guide will offer insights into the ranch’s unique history and natural features. Two zipline canopy tour guides will greet you at the first zipline, and you will be thoroughly oriented and equipped to begin your journey. From the end of the fourth zipline, you will be transported back to Santa Margarita.
How many people will be on my tour?
Your group will include a maximum of 21 guests along with a host/driver and zipline canopy tour guides.
What are your policies regarding reservations and cancellations?
Please see our Policy Page for information on our reservation and cancellation policies.
What are your age or weight restrictions?
All ages are welcome. Individual guests may not exceed 270 pounds. Children must weigh at least 75 pounds to go solo, otherwise they must ride tandem with a parent.
Do you offer group discounts or private tours?
Private tours and discounts are available for groups of eight or more guests. Please direct group inquires to contactus@margarita-adventures.com.
What is the discount for Ancient Peaks Wine Club members?
Members of the Ancient Peaks Wine Club save 20 percent off the regular tour cost of $99. Ancient Peaks Winery in Santa Margarita is the official sponsor of the Renegade, the first and longest zipline in our canopy tour. Click here to learn more about joining the club.
How safe are your ziplines?
We place an uncompromising priority on safety in the construction and maintenance of our ziplines; the integrity of our equipment; and the training of our guides. Please see our Safety Overview for more information.
How should I dress for my tour?
Comfort is the priority. Wear layers, as the temperature can change during your visit. Appropriate attire includes long or short-sleeve t-shirts, shorts or long pants, and close-fitting sweaters or jackets. Loose, flowing attire such as skirts and dresses are not recommended. Closed-toed, securely strapped shoes are required—no open-toed sandals are allowed. Hiking boots or rugged tennis shoes are best suited for our terrain. Long hair should be tied back, and any dangling jewelry should be removed prior to embarking. Glasses and sunglasses should be tucked away or secured with a strap.
Are cameras allowed on the tour?
You may bring a camera and take photos during your tour as long as the camera is small enough to fit in your pocket. You are not allowed to take photos during your zipline ride. Margarita Adventures is not responsible for lost or dropped items.
I don’t think I want to zipline, but can I come take pictures of my friends?
Yes. The tour-only option is $40 to ride the bus onto the ranch. You will be able to watch the zipliners from the bottom of the lines.
I am out of shape—is that a problem?
It shouldn’t be. You will need to be able to walk short distances on uneven ground, but our ziplines do most of the work and require minimal physical exertion.
Are children permitted to take the zipline canopy tour?
Minors ages 12 and up may take the zipline tour unaccompanied, provided that they have a waiver filled out by their legal guardian beforehand. Younger children weighing more than 75 pounds may take the zipline canopy tour, but must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. If a child weighs less than 75 pounds they may ride tandem with an adult. If the parent wishes not to take the zipline canopy tour along with the child, he or she may simply take the tour. The cost for the tour without ziplining canopy tour is $40.
